Friend code: 5370-0444-3461 Other notable voices include Gamma having very few sounds and certain Tikal hints being silent. #5 To say that Sonic the Hedgehog's life as a 3D game character has been a tumultuous one would be an understatement, as some of his polygonal adventures are considered some of the worst video games ever made. There's no denying that, with the possible exception of Soul Calibur, no game was made to "sell" the Dreamcast as much as Sonic Adventure was. However, the most recent ports to PS3, X360, and beyond run at a near-constant 60FPS which make those versions as must for framerate junkies-- which, judging by most comment sections, is pretty much everyone these days. In addition to the extra content, there are actually tons of changes from the original version, ranging anywhere from tiny to huge. However, this can only be seen when Sonic runs at absolute maximum speed, coming off of a spin dash or dash pad (simply running in one direction is insufficient). Maybe not BECAUSE of this game but it's still a great system and there are some great games on there (some I miss terribly). The DC version runs well, I think. The identifying strings within the game's normal save files were changed, making them incompatible with the previous version unless a save editor is used to alter the region settings. The camera above the entrance to the sewer zooms out much more in the original Japanese version: The shop in the City Hall area of Station Square also has very different camera angles: The camera angle when starting at the train in the Mystic Ruins in the original Japanese version is closer than the other versions. It was probably removed due to being very difficult to see during regular gameplay. While the GameCube version upped the overall framerate to 60FPS, those drops were still there and were made even more noticeable as a result. It should be noted that the distortion effect can only be seen with Sonic's regular shoes - with the Light Speed Shoes, Sonic's feet won't distort at all. A similar effect would only surface 15 years later in Sonic Lost World. I have a demo of Sonic Adventure DX and it's horribly glitchy (frame-rate and camera especially) and the graphics don't seem to have as much polish or colour as the DC original either. But it was generally well-liked at the time and still has a lot of fans, as evidenced by its multiple ports and re-releases over the years. As excited as fans were to hear Sonic finally speak in a video game, the actual dialogue in Sonic Adventure left a lot to be desired, as did the voices of many of the characters. Like the Pokewalker, only better. She had previously made her debut in Sonic Advance 2, and was added in order to make DX feel a bit more current in terms of its place in Sonic lore and to please the hardcore fans who have a strong affection for Sonic's more obscure cohorts. In other versions, it plays the regular Mystic Ruins music. I especially like the unlockables. Even though it was already in English, the Hedgehog Hammer screen was updated. In later versions of the game it is impossible to stand on the head of the Burger man. The characters' standing poses are more animated while holding an object in the Japanese version. Despite this, the stage list is still shown in the proper order in the Japanese manual. The target for Froggy is always shown in the Japanese version when fighting Chaos 6 as Big. It is subtle and similar to the blurs used for Tails' tails and spin jumps. It was replaced by an innocuous Casinopolis decoration. I think the Dreamcast one may be better, but I never played it. In the Japanese version's trial mode, after a stage's title card is displayed the player is able to move before the screen finishes fading in. In the Japanese version, Chaos can be heard making Chao sounds when appearing and transforming in Tikal's flashback. Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit. My thoughts echo what Bulb said. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, Sonic Adventure's flaws have definitely come into sharper focus as time has gone on and the game has aged. I have yet to complete this game, but I will before I die. The DX version has slightly better graphics, slightly improved Chao mechanics, Mission Mode, the ability to be played on a current-gen console, and I'm not sure if the Game Gear games are in the original version. Characters who are idle for a long period of time are silent in the original Japanese version. This is a sub-page of Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast). The VMU screen that appears upon selecting the internet option is different depending on which version of the game is used: A platform was added at the end of the rollercoaster in Act 2 as Sonic: A Shield box was changed into a Speed shoes box in Amy's Twinkle Park. Sadly, all Dreamcast references were removed from future releases, which makes sense-- though it's a disappointing change nonetheless. I am way too lazy to think of something clever. I like DX more personally, and I have never come across any of these glitches people so frequently talk about and stuff like the Frame Rate and Camera were fine as well. (The speed shoes don't actually affect Amy's speed though, rendering them useless.). Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur? It was probably removed due to being very difficult to see during regular gameplay. In other versions, they make a comment based on their surroundings.
